Plans to gift myself with a Chloé tuxedo jacket have been nixed thanks to the credit crunch. Fortunately, I think my quest for a more affordable version has just ended, though in an unexpected location. Aubin & Wills is a fairly new British brand that launched in September and counts Prince Harry among its fans. It’s got Abercrombie & Fitch style marketing with black and white shots of attractive collegiate types, but the clothing has a bit more of an edge and the quality is much better. My favorite part of the women’s wear line is the outerwear. A&W is the only somewhat affordable brand that I’ve seen nail the tuxedo jacket. Meanwhile the plaid cape and red jacket look very English and cool.
