Three things I really love this week

http://www.readmuse.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/tawiah-in-jodis-bedroom.jpg

1) One of the best things about living in London is the music scene. And with that, access to the UK’s iTunes. So my iPod is now loaded up with all of this great music by Britain’s soul divas. My favorite at the moment is Tawiah, who I’ve mentioned on this blog before. My Tawiah encounters were pretty much limited to listening to a few of her tracks on her MySpace. But she has since released an EP called “In Jodi’s Bedroom,” which is equal parts indie-soul and electro-funk. My biggest complaint is that it’s not nearly long enough. Dying for her to release a full-length album.

2) Beyonce’s ghettotastic music video for her new release “Single Ladies” has been my YouTube obsession for the past three weeks now. But even more fun are the knockoff videos coming from her legions of gay fans. Some nail the choreography better than Queen B herself (or at least one of them anyway). Here are just a few choice ones:

3) As bored as I am with hip hop, I have to give Q-Tip credit for making the genre feel somewhat relevant again with his new album, “The Renaissance.” I also love that he managed to drag D’Angelo out of whatever hole he’s been hiding in to make a guest appearance on the song, “Believe.”
*Correction: Apparently D’Angelo already had a comeback of sorts in the works. Am I the last person on earth to hear his new single, “I Found My Smile Again”? He released it exclusively through iTunes way back in September. I received a press release today announcing that he’ll drop a new album next year. And suddenly, I’m longing for 1999 all over again.
